    Hello there,

so Leo is working on a plugin that allows you to set a password in-game. The purpose of this is for logging in to various web services such as bug reporting, filing ban reports, or a feature request, and possibly in order to play on the server itself(note: Possibly, not definitely). This would be to deter spammers and other players who come on merely to do stupid things.

    How to use:
To get started, type /player password. You will then be prompted to enter and set a password. Don't worry, it won't display in chat so just type in the password. Don't do anything like /player password 12345. Once entered, you will be prompted again to enter the password for verification. After this, it should say "Successfully set your new password!" And you're done.

I have been on servers, where they have something similar to this. It's cool.

Ye it's cool but sometimes it can be annoying because it can be confusing to players like new ones and it's just like LeT ME PLaY

True, especially if you're new, as you said, and if you are young too.

That is why it is optional. Additionally we are storing your password very securely. For anybody who is interested: I'm using SCrypt with N = 65536, r = 8 and p = 1. This should provide reasonable safety.

EDIT: You do not need your old password if you are setting a new one.

As I understand it, they're stored by us so we'd probably be able to recover it. Although one would assume it's a password you wouldn't forget easily
