It's all fun making minigames, medieval builds, tutorial builds, towns etc. But we have a very talented community of builders here on BuildCraftia. Some of the builds you see here blow your mind, especially the huge office complexes and mega-cities. To cut a long story short, I had an idea to establish a build team (or 'build hub' as I like to call it (because it sounds cooler (and I like lots of brackets xP ))) called EQUINOX, comprised of ONLY BuildCraftia members. My idea originally was that this would be a group of the server's top minigame designers, making large-scale games together. While I myself have a particular interest in minigames, Equinox could also have different 'departments' for different builds, i.e. a group of builders that make minigames; a group that does scenic builds, and so on. Each of these groups would have a leader, where we all discuss the type of build that we should make next. This is where the 'hub' idea comes in, as we'd have several build departments but all under the same team name (Equinox). To start off with, there would be no departments; just one group that makes builds. But if BuildCraftia gets more popular, we could start splitting up the team into different sections. My end-game goal would be finally reviving the old Mega Parkour Server, and with Mac's permission, selecting individuals from Equinox to help out with it! This sounds very idealistic, unrealistic and slightly too organised at the moment, but I'd like to give it a try. Even if it doesn't work out, we can at least say we tried it, right? One major prerequisite though is that builders must have a high quality of build. I would never want to shun anyone away from building because of this; rather, I would like users (especially new ones) to look up to Equinox as something to work towards, in the hopes that they could join one day too. If you like the idea of this, please comment your thoughts below; positive comments, constructive comments & suggestions: anything. Everyone is - and always will be - welcome to make their voice heard! If we decide to go ahead with this idea, then people would be able to apply to join using an application form (which I could make at some point in the future). This would either be on the forums or through typeform. It will require work, e.g. you'd be expected to write about your strengths and weaknesses in free form (i.e. without guidance) and comment on what you do outside minecraft (because what you do outside of minecraft can influence your building, particularly if you take up any sort of art (music, drama, art), which are very important). Everyone - regardless of rank - would be able to apply. Although, as is with most things, you may stand out more if you've donated. Don't worry: there would be no bias. Right now, this also sounds very official and strict , that's the opposite of the atmosphere I'd like to have. Once a user is in, we'd all chill and work together, probably through large skype calls. So again: if you like the idea of this, have any questions, or have any suggestions to add, please comment your thoughts below! Our first project (if we go ahead) would be a 4-plot-minimum sized Team HQ, with lots of decoration. Every user would get an office inside which they can decorate personally too! =-=-=-=-=-= : : : E Q U I N O X : : : The Elite.™ =-=-=-=-=-=
I would be more than happy to apply when i have the chance to. (Since i do have experience building on the Hive's build team: Team Nectar in the past.)
Here's a minimalistic, quick logo I whipped up in photoshop in about 5 minutes: Another point - or role - that someone could fill is possibly designing banners and logos for the team, if anyone's interested EDIT: Added to the top of the first post
i'd participate in this but I really have one main concern. If the team gets too big (10 people+), it wouldn't be a build team anymore, but wrather just a free-for-all. But this is a good idea.
I see what you mean. My idea to combat this was to have the different areas of building, all with a different 'leader' of sorts. This would only be necessary if the group expanded a lot, which I can't see it doing in the near-future. But who knows?
I think the idea actually cancelled considering nobody before you actually posted for approximately a month.
