The Creeper "EUREKA!" I yell in my lab. What is it, Doctor Gunter?" my assistant, Nicholas, asks. I told him,"I have discovered a new creature! I will name it, the Creeper!" "But doctor,"Nicholas asks,"how do we know this creature even exists?" "You're right." I said,"It could be anywhere! Even in the great and magnificent Department of Science!" I close my eyes as I think of a place this creature could be. "How 'bout a cave?" Nicholas suggests. "Good idea, Nicholas!" I say,"Get me a Type 5 B-77 Diamond Plated Drilling Vehicle, ASAP! I wait for Nicholas to return so we can start our journey. I do nothing but shifting through research. As I look through a paper about the Sombrero Galaxy, I notice a rumbling sound. Rumble... rumble. It gets louder as I grab my prototype ray gun to be prepared for what's going to happen. Rumble... RUMBLE... RUMBLE... CRASH! A giant drill comes crashing through the walls of the lab. "I'm back!" yells Nicholas. I yell back,"NICHOLAS! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" "Wha-? Oooh, hehe, sorry." Nicholas replies. "I'll deal with this later. Lets start our journey." I say. We start the drill and drive it outside. It makes a really loud humming sound as we start the engine. Hmmmmmmm! We go deep underground as we hear rock, gravel, and concrete get crushed. Crack! Crack! Most of the time we're silent but I start a small conversation here and there. "And that's the evolution of the burrito." I finish. We get to a cave and we look at the stalagmites and stalactites. We light a torch and start to explore. "It's like we're Indiana Jones and we're looking for the Forbidden Eye in the Temple of Doom." Nicholas says. We walk for hours, but we finally find the Creeper. It's green and very cube-shaped. "Quick, lets get it on the drill before it explodes!" I say. We load it on the drill and start the engine. Hmmmmmmmm! "Lets get out of here!" I say. Vroom.... VROOOOOOM! I hit reverse instead and the drill hits the wall of the cave. CRASH! "Whoopsie." I say as magma pours onto the drill. "Uh, Doc, we have a problem." Nicholas says worryingly. "The engine won't start." Vroo-! "I think we're out of gas." I say. We jump out and get the creeper and run out as lava flows behind us. "AAAAAH!" we yell as we run to the surface. "Gasp! We made it." I say,"Lets get back to the lab." We put the specimen into a chamber for study. Beep boop beep, the computers go, beep beep boop. Day and night, we study. "Interesting. This creature makes a hissing sound if anything comes near." I say. SSSssSSssSsSSSssSs! I back away. SsSSSSssssSsSssssS! "Why isn't it stopping?" I ask. "I don't know!" someone yells. "Seal the chamber!" another person yells. I cry,"IT'S GONNA BLOW! RUN!" Everyone runs out as we grab as many documents we can. SSsSssSSsS! SsssSs!... It stops. I start,"Wha-?" BOOM! We're all silent. "Well, there goes that." 10 months later. I step out of a limo onto a red carpet as I head to the Scientist's Choice Awards. The ceremony was pretty boring but when they get to my category, I'm wide awake. The announcer says,"And the winner of the Best Discovery award goes to... Doctor Gunter and his Creeper!" I walk upstage and grab my award. "Thank you," I say through the microphone,"I'd just like to say that my discovery of creepers will live on forever! Just be careful when looking for them." Everyone applauds as the announcer says,"Doctor Gunter, would you please present the specimen." "Oh, uh... RUN!" I yell as I rush off the stage. Oh well, maybe that wasn't the best way to accept an award, but my discovery of Creepers will always be here. Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Moon Mexico 1964 "How's the excavation coming along, Dr. Cogswell?" I ask. "Well, we've uncovered the temple," he replies," but it's far too dangerous inside." :I'll go." I tell him. I go to my tent marked "Indiana Jones". I grab my .22 caliber revolver, food, water, and my trusty whip. Okay, I'm ready." I walk to the entrance. It's deep, dark hallway fills me with fear. Someone hands me a torch and I walk in. I say,"Doc, this is just a de-. AAAH!" I fall through a trapdoor. THUD! "Oooow..." I say as I stand up. "Are you okay?" Doc asks. "Yeah," I moan," ow. Well, I found the rest of the temple. Stay up there, Cogswell." I start walking through the corridors as I look at the ancient writing. There are drawings of the moon. It says,"The light of the moon will shine on the treasure. If you are not worthy, you will be doomed." The drawing shows all the waxing and waning, gibbous, and crescent moons. The quarters and the full and new moon. The full moon opens the doors to the treasure. The sun is shown shining on the moon on the other side of Earth reflecting it into the temple. As I explore, I notice diamond shaped stones in the ground. I step over it and a spike appears before me. I jump back, startled, and I land on the stone. Nothing happens. I step onto a different tile and a dart shoots out from a statue. I duck just in time to avoid being poisoned. I get to the end without a scratch, however, a snake drops from the roof onto the ground right in front of me. I step back and a spike barely misses my hat. I kick the snake away and run. Darts, spikes, and fireballs barely miss me. Adrenaline pours through my body as I escape near-death situations. I finally reach the treasure room. I reach the locked gates. Little windows in the roof show it's only a first quarter. I have to wait a really long time before the gates open. 8 days later The moon is now in the right spot. The doors swing open and I step in. The room is gigantic! Then, a stone pedestal sits in the middle of the room. A golden statue rests on top. I reach for it, but stop. I grab a rock about the same size. I place the rock and get my hands on the statue. Nothing hap-. RUMBLE! The temple starts shaking violently. Parts of the floor fall into the bubbling lava pit below. What's left starts to orbit the pedestal. I jump from piece to piece as I dodge flaming poison arrows. I get to the last jump... but I miss. I start plumetting to my doom. I reach for my whip and throw it toward a branch. Who00000... CRACK! It wraps around and I swing back up. Suddenly, the lava pit starts flowing upwards. I run through the hallway as the Indiana Jones theme song mysteriously plays throughout the temple. The lava starts rushing toward the end of the hallway. I reach the trap door I fell through, but it's locked. I try to pick the lock but it's no good. I remember I brought my revolver. I grab it, load it, and shoot. BAM! BAM! The door swings open. Someone helps me up. I yell,"EVERYONE! GET OUT OF HERE!" Lava starts flowing out of the temple. Everyone runs out of the pit. After that "incident", me and Cogswell go to the Indiana Jones natural history museum. Someone takes our picture and the press start coming over. "Mr. Jones, how long were you in there?" one reporter asks. "Mr. Jones!I'll What did you go through?" another reporter asks. "People, please! All questions will be answered." I say. I know I'm already famous, but after this, I'll be even more famous!
Time to show you guys my story of minecraft when I was a noob of minecraft. This was back in my gray days on BC. We were all as noobish as this. Minecraft “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. deviantart.com What I know: Minecraft is a sandbox game created by Mojang. It’s a game where you wander around through forests, deserts, mountains, oceans, canyons, prairies and many more landscape features called biomes. You may start out with survival where you must gather materials and survive. Then there is creative where players have unlimited blocks and can build magnificent monuments, buildings and towns. There is hardcore mode where it is survival only if you die, your world is deleted forever. In the game there are achievements that players can earn when they do certain tasks such as building a hoe or getting wood. I credit this knowledge from playing the game during my free time. I sometimes would rage quit from this game and not play it for a few days if I maybe lost all my diamonds in my survival world or my brother bombed my world with tnt. But that is what made me love and enjoy this game. There are animals of many species and who live in different places. Cows, pigs, sheep and chicken are in all biomes and appear in all corners of the world. Then there is squid, who only live in the oceans and lakes. Ocelots only inhabit the dense jungles and wolves only live in forests. Horses infest the prairies and a rare mob called the mooshroom wanders the strange and mysterious mushroom islands. Then there are hostile mobs that troll the night and dark caves. The zombie, skeleton, creeper, slime and spider are all non friendly mobs that walk and run in the caves and come up to the surface at night. In an underworld like dimension called the nether, vicious mobs like the flying ghast, the zombie pigman, the skeleton’s cousin called the wither skeleton, the fire covered blaze and the slimes relative named the magma cube roam free. And if that is not enough to kill the player, lava lakes cover over half of the dimension, making it very hard to navigate without the necessary equipment. Also found in the Nether are “Nether Fortresses”. These are giant castles with long corridors and tall bridges. And a third dimension called “The end” a giant dragon called the Ender Dragon looms with tall monsters called Enderman guarding the surface of the world. Defeating the EnderDragon is considered to be the closest one can get to beating the game. I know this information by doing all these stunts myself and or watching others complete them. And the game is constantly changing with new updates coming out and new mobs, biomes, blocks and other features being added. Minecraft was created in 2009 but was not officially released until November 18, 2011 making it a relatively new game. Its concept was made by a swedish designer named Marcus Perrson. He is also known as Notch. The game was originally a computer game but it was so successful that it got released onto Xbox, android and apple devices. It has hit over 10 million sales on the computer alone and over 20 million sales from all devices. I have found all of these facts from the minecraft wiki, minecraft.net and by talking to Notch on a minecraft server. What I want to learn: Despite my knowledge of Minecraft, there are many things that are still a mystery to me. The true size of the minecraft world has always amazed me. But I have never known the true size of this blocky game. I also do not know a lot about redstone since I Never use it in any of my creations or houses but. It would be nice to know a bit more about redstone so I can make my houses more interesting and exciting. I do not know much about which versions of minecraft came out when and what was in each version. The future of the game is always in my mind. What will be in future updates? When will they come they come out? My creations are always missing something and I would like to know of ways to improve my house. How many blocks are in Minecraft? What I learned: History of MInecraft The game was worked on by Its creator, Markus Persson long before its original release to the public in 2009. In 2009, It became available to the public in its alpha version of testing. Then in December of 2010, Minecraft moved into beta testing. Minecraft was in beta for about 11 months and then on November 18, 2011, the full version of Minecraft was officially released. This started the update versions at 1.0.0. The biggest updates that have come out since 1.0.0 are 1.2, 1.4.2, 1.5.1, 1.6.1 and 1.7.2. These updates have each added significant features to the game. 1.2 added the dense jungle biome and a new mob called the ocelot. The ocelot is only found in the jungle biome. Then in October of 2012, 1.4.2 came out. This update was called the “Pretty scary update”. In this update came the new mob called the Witch. The Witch is a hostile mob like zombies and creepers. But unlike zombies and creepers, it was only found in Witch Huts which are only found in the swamp biome. Also in this update came a new mob for the Nether, “Wither skeleton”. This is a mob only found in the Nether fortresses and is unique in that it can drop its head. However this is very rare with only a 1/40 chance of the skull dropping from a wither skeleton. When a player has 3 of these skulls and 4 soul sand, the user can spawn the second boss mob in the game, “Wither”. The Wither was also added in 1.4.2 and is a very tricky mob to fight. Once a Player defeats a Wither, the Wither drops a “nether star”. This can be used to make a beacon. 1.5.1 was released in March of 2013. According to http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Minecraft_Wiki, 1.5.1 was called the “Redstone update”. Many redstone features were added in this update including a hopper, activator rail, minecart with hopper, redstone block and weighed pressure plates. This really helped users who liked making machines because they could make so much more redstone creations. July of 2013 brought 1.6.1, also known as the “Horse update”. Of course in this update were horses. Donkeys and mules were also added as a cousin to horses. Many blocks were also added and or changed textures in this update. Many new types of clay were added such as stained clay. Stained clay is clay that can be the colors of all dyes. It is also not flammable unlike wool. Hardened clay was also added but it is the same as stained clay except for the fact that it can only be one color. Carpets were also added to serve as better ways to cover up redstone or some other ugly mess. And one final block that was added in this update was a block of coal. 1.7.2 is the most recent of these updates to come out, as it was only released in November of 2013. This update is also called the “update that changed the world”. And it did. Many new biomes were added along with 2 new types of wood, new fish, more enchantments, stained glass and many more flowers. Some of the biomes that were added were the Mesa biome, Roofed forest, ice spikes biome, savannah, stone cliffs and the mega taiga biome. Many new versions of existing of biomes were also added. Over 15 new flowers were added to give the game decorations more variety. Many of them can be found in any common biome. But some can only be found in certain biomes. The blue orchid can only be found in the swamp biome and the sunflower can only be found in the new Sunflower plains biome. 3 new types of fish were added, the pufferfish, the salmon and the clownfish. Also, another change to fishing is that more loot other than fish can be caught while fishing. Boots, lilypads and sticks are just a few. Stained glass can be crafted and is used to add more color to a person’s house. The 2 new types of wood are Acacia and Dark Oak. Acacia can only be found in the savannah biome growing from the weird looking acacia trees. Dark oak can only be found in the roofed forest biome. Many more updates will be added in the future but only time will tell what these updates will hold. Size of the Minecraft World: The size of the minecraft world has always been changing. Before beta 1.3, the world was 25 million blocks across and wide. At the edge of each world was the “far lands”. The far lands were just different biomes welded into a wall with many holes inside. And furthermore, at the 4 corners of each map were the corner lands. The corner lands were the same as the far lands except the biomes were stacked vertically on top of each other. However, in worlds after 1.3 beta, the minecraft world has gotten bigger. In these world’s the world is 30 million blocks in each direction. That means that it is 60 million blocks long and wide. So a minecraft world is over 7000 times bigger than the earth! One more difference to the minecraft world is that after beta 1.3, the edge of the world is somewhat unreal. According to , who also gives me all the other information about the size of the minecraft world, after 30 million blocks, the blocks continue generating but they are ghost like blocks. Players fall through them and most times, the game crashes. So if you ever start falling through blocks, you are at world’s end. What I take away: Now that now that I know much more about minecraft, I will be much better at it in many aspects. Many of the structures that I build now will look much better. I know much more about the past history of minecraft, which may be useful in some trivia minigame or a quiz. There are also many new building techniques that I now know that will make my building faster. I was off in the beginning when I said that minecraft has hit 20 million sales across all devices and 10 million sales on the computer. It actually has hit 12.5 million sales on computer and over 33 million sales on all systems. I feel that I am now an expert to minecraft but I also feel that thru this project, many new questions have popped into my mind. How do I set up my own Minecraft server and not just be a moderator on a server? When will updates stop coming out? And I am still not good at redstone. I just can’t understand why some redstone things do the things they do. But hopefully, while I am playing this popular computer game, I will answer some of these questions and discover many more. That is very long, I warned you. We were all noobish at one point.
You forgot the single most unuseful update, 1.4.7 This update brought fireworks into the game, causing another way to create lag, an attempt to modernize the game, a very odd way to craft an item which of course, to get it with colour and extra needed to be crafted, you can't just go on creative and get it from inventory (you can but it is blank) With fireworks came the firework star to enable the crafting of the firework. These guys brought the colour of fireworks as well as special effects.
