As the name of this post implies, I am losing faith in myself. Don't worry, not to a suicidal extent, but it's more... over the production of the Destroy The Core animation. People will say that Mine-imator looks/is easy. And sure, it kind of is - you sit around in front of a screen for sometimes hours at a time, rotating wheels and clicking certain spots on a timeline, pressing F5 to see how it looks with shaders and repeating this. But the final product never satisfies me. I am working tirelessly on DTC. A fair amount has been completed thus far, and the progress is smooth. However, the actual animations in the video... some of them, I can't get over how unrealistic they are. Sure, you're clicking at specific spots on a "grid" of sorts which sounds easy on paper, but then there's playing the animation to see how it'll look when I release it. And then I'll find myself changing the timing of the movements six times and I'm still not happy. Then there's people like Ironwave Studios, SKIBBZ, Black Plasma Studios, Slamacow, Element Animation, NinjaCharlieT, Dillongoo, all the good animators that we know. Even Olocool is probably way, wayyy better than me. Mine-imator has so many limits that Blender/C4D/Maya have easily broken through - compositing, smoother animation, etc. I want to use all of these somehow, but... Blender is ruled out of the equation because my lousy laptop can't support secure downloaded content that works for most animators. (e.g. character rigs) Cinema 4D has a free trial but that requires loads of personal info to install, from what I've seen from the website. Maya has no free trial from what I've seen, however. I wanted to get it... but the prices have varied for the subscription. The highest cost is $200 a month. Like, seriously. I vaguely remember something about it costing $200 a month. I trust that a lot of you believe in me, and I'm grateful for all of your support. Thank you. But I'm struggling to believe in myself...
Dont worry man, people hit that wall in confidence when they work on a huge project, its human nature. Just give it some time and you'll feel more confident/motivated to work on things again. As for the Cinema 4D problem, im sure you or someone you ask, can find a way of acquiring that for free.
I wouldn't worry too much about your actual animation skills so far. There's just one thing I know for sure that can help you and that is getting a better, non-laptop PC. If your PC cannot handle semi-complex Blender animation rigs, then I highly doubt your PC could handle even more intensive programs like C4D and Maya. So get a good PC with a dedicated GPU, and for the love of all that is holy, don't get a prebuilt; build a computer yourself.
Never mind. It didn't work. Seems to be Pose Mode that's crashing Blender though, so I guess armatures are a no-go.
