    Hey guys,

So recently there have been many political debates and discussions on the server, which I absolutely love. No matter who i'm debating with, their viewpoints, or the issues at hand. It is just fun to have friendly discussions over politics. I also do this a lot over Enjin (some may know what it is). So maybe it's time we have a debates thread here???

So basically I will present a series of issues to debate on. The debates will last for however long people want to discuss them. Once a topic becomes either an echo chamber or dies down from lack of responses, I'll present a new topic to debate. Sometimes the issues will be more specific then others. And some may be over certain politicians credibility. I'll try my hardest to make sure it isn't just american-pressed issues. There will hopefully be some diversity

Each topic will have strawpoll as a base, so we can see a rough count of everyone's opinions on each of the issues. And all the issues will also be debated and discussed at length down below. I highly encourage that people write full-fleshed responses. It makes for better discussions and keeps the thread alive. But if you prefer to keep your opinions private or can't be bothered to write/debate, then just use the strawpoll. Nothing is forced upon you.

Once a new topic is set, I'll let a few people respond before I state my own POV. It just seems weird for me to state my opinions in the same paragraphs that I state a new topic.

Now politics are a dicey subject on any minecraft server or forum. Which is why I'm hoping that people when debating will be friendly and mature. Not stuck-up ass lick maturity but you know, keep it civilized. Please do not attack specific people on the server for their views, and what they stand for. A persons political views are their own, and nobody else's to be tampering with. Debate is still fun though.

That being said, l hope we can enjoy this thread and have some lively discussions.

The first issues that I will bring to the table concern the 2016 presidential election for the USA. While mostly an american issue, this is an election that has ramifications around the world, a ripple effect.

Which candidate do you support, and why? Here is the link to the strawpoll: http://www.strawpoll.me/10964610

To help, I've thrown an image below that is a quick guide to the political standpoints of Gary Johnson, Donald Trump, and Hillary Clinton (sorry green party).

The problem is I'd vote for a third party candidate (probably Jill Stein of the Greens over Johnson) but US politics is organised so as to support the two-party, Democrat-Republican system (many countries are built on two-party systems btw). In that sense, voting for them would be nothing more than a protest vote & doesn't achieve much. It literally will be the worst election so far of our lifetimes, with people voting in order to keep the other out, not to get their favourite ('proper' English :p ) in.

The second problem is that I live in the UK & I'm underage so I can only shout from the sidelines ;)

I would naturally vote for the Democratic party as it's (supposedly) centre-left. But with proof that Hillary Clinton rigged the primary elections against Bernie Sanders & all the kerfuffle with her e-mail scandal, I would either vote third party or not even vote at all (which I would always avoid: I think that, as citizens, everyone eligible has a civic duty to vote).

All fair points. especially the two party system. It causes nothing but bureaucratic nonsense and a lack of congress in congress. That being said, due to the extreme nature of this election, Gary Johnson, a third party candidate technically, is polling at around 12-15%. Last time around, he was polling at around 1-2%. The hope is that he polls at or above 15% so that he can make the debates. If he can make the debates, it will bring some light to the issues the libertarian party supports.
