Is it just me, or is it that 86% of new members that log onto the server don't come on the server frequently? With each new member that logs onto the server we smile and give them a hearty warm welcome, but perhaps we should do this and something else to have the new members believe that this server is a server that should be played on frequently, and a good place to make friends. KnownUnknown, one of our server's contributors says: "not just saying welcome and continuing on with our conversations, we interact with them." This way, they get the sense that we are here to help them every step of the way, and will help them with anything they need. We could invite them into our own events (concerts, mod nom conversations, build conversations, dtc, etc.) the main goal we have is to portray the image that new members are always welcome, the more the merrier! We have to remember though, if we overwhelm the person with too much information, they might quit. Another thing I observed is that when we kid around with the new comers they often get angry and say things like "I'm never coming on this server again," so let's try to not be as joking to the newcomers, to let them get settled in! I asked our relatively new moderator, fan312 about what he thinks about the server, here's what he said. Q: What did you think of the server when you first logged on? A: I always thought the chat was weird, so I'd ignore it...until I bought donator, then things became more exciting. Now, fan is an extremely active member on bcsn. Here's what I thought. When I first logged on, I didn't really talk much. I wasn't really an active person, but then as I talked in the chat more, people started talking to me. After a few months on the server, I got MVP, and about 2 months after that I got Penguin. I haven't been happier on a minecraft server since. Perhaps we should start talking to the members more to get them more active! Tell me what you guys think.
Heh heh concerts. Anyways, if I had it my way, when a new player joined, I'd ask him or her to help me with a new project or build. Most new people, however, either don't know how to use chat, or just don't like the overall feel of the server. I remember when I joined, I could even use chat, let alone get a plot. Maybe as a community we can work better to grow the community into what it was before Arcadia hit.
Awwh this is a really cute idea and I think it'd be good if some people could act more friendly to the new members so they already feel apart of the BCSN family
If I logged on to a server and I was bombarded with 'Welcome!' I'd probably leave yea jus sayin and remember that not everyone feels the same sense of community that we feel if they're new. I feel as if the most realistic thing would be to just add more games and publicise more, idk But projecting a positive image is important too so I agree there
That is true, thank you for voicing your opinion! Thank you!! Yes, that is true, xP That is a very good tactic you have! Thank you for voicing your opinion!
