Mod Applications: Pros: Everyone gets to try to be a Mod Cons: Purely based off of staff A little too formal Restrictions (Age, Skype, etc.) Forums account needed The players will 'show their best' if they have their helper rank, sliming away at the staff. Mod Nominations: Pros: No restrictions (or at least less strict) Both staff and the community get to vote No forums account needed. Voted players are usually more active and friendly players, which can interact with the community very well. You don't have to do anything. (perfect for lazy people) Neutrals : Not really biased, since there is a final vote after the normal votes. (Could also be a Pro) Cons: Members have less of a chance to be nominated (Not really true, if you are active and friendly enough, a member can be a mod too. Altough it may be a little harder then being a donator, I agree.) BAM. I SAID IT.
I think for a change someone should try nominating a member since I seen a lot of members who are active and friendly.
To be honest, most donors get it because donating shows dedication. When you donate, you show loyalty to BC, and that loyalty is rewarded by perks. Most members don't get it because they are newer, and don't know everyone or the smaller details and history behind BC, such as Arcadia and MsCottonCandy. I would nom a member, but as I said, most are new to BCSN.
I'd nominate a member who's committed. But I wouldn't nominate one just for the sake of nominating one.
We switched to moderator nominations because the community and staff wanted it. Now, some people don't want it. I honestly don't know what to do, there's no easy way to do them. We'll probably just keep refining them as time goes on. In addition, there were several nominations for members however more added up for the finalists. Was a matter of a few votes honestly.
:O Dere were members nominated? Okay that totally changes my opinion because before I didn't think there were members who were nominated
Hey there, how about we combine the best out of both worlds: when we select new staff, we create/open a forum section where anybody is allowed to post a thread (just one). They may not post more than one, but the threads could be of any format and/or shape (as long as its not against the rules) After a week or so, Zach or I will go around and collect all the people who have created a thread and compile a TypeForm out of the results, which you can vote on What do you think?
