If you feel updating to 1.11 will bring in more people, it likely won't--at least IN THE LONG RUN. Yeah, survival was active when you changed it to 1.10, but that soon changed weeks after the update. Yeah, 1.11 seems like a more exciting update than 1.10, but what happened is that clusters of people started playing, then they eventually got bored of it. The exact same will happen with 1.11, just like EVERY minecraft update thus far, no matter how exciting something is, it will eventually get old and people will get bored of it. It will go back to the same old crap with the regular players who like to play survival, because of the amazing things they can accomplish there when one actually tries, as most of you know I am one of these regular players. And when this happens with 1.11, you basically will ruin the legacies that your regular survival players have created just for the sake of new players who are not even going to stay because they wanna go build on creative, where a majority of players are seen dedicating most of their time one. With this decision, you will lose the loyalty of your regular players, I can mention some to you right now but I do not want to cause unwanted attention to them. as well as their respect. People don't just come on here to play, they see promise and potential and they donate to you, I have spent probably over $100 of my own money for this server because it feels like home to me and I enjoy playing with my friends on here and sharing adventures. I did not spend $100 to be so disrespected or have what I worked so hard on to be torn out of my hands. Lumen is not the only one who really helps keep this server alive, y'know; it is the player interest that causes money to be donated, even if half the time it's not even them who donate. My friends are also unhappy about this decision, and we need to come up with a better compromise rather than just simply resetting survival, don't let your players who support your decision blind you about the other side of the spectrum, those who are unhappy with it and what you can do to make EVERYONE happy. You have heard my voice, this is what I think and I don't care if staff besides the owners don't like what I am saying. I am directly speaking to Azza and Leo with the collective opinions of my friends, as well as my understanding of the situation and analyzing it through a rhetorical lense in hopes of getting Azza and Leo to reconsider. If you still don't care what I have to say, let's see if you will then care about one of the people who quits that helped make you a new spawn, they deserve even more respect than I do, and if they quit, then I'll also quit. Because that person is the only one who convinced me to stay in the first place, and if they leave, I leave. I have now spoken, you wanted to hear from us and I am only representing the people who are dissatisfied, don't dismiss everything I say because you don't like what I'm saying; people are going to say what you don't want to hear no matter what, so at least CONSIDER as to what I am saying and see if we can't make a better compromise. I mean no disrespect to any staff, I just want my voice to be heard, even if that means I have to state cold, hard facts and statistics and merely just pure honesty about a serious issue and the consequences involved within it to get someone to have second thoughts about such an executive decision.
I agree with what I believe is your base viewpoint you are trying to convey here. Which is that the community/players are the backbone of the server. And without them, the server would die off. Completely agree with that. However if I'm honest it seems like the only people who would be holding out on the survival reset is you, alkaline, lumen, & Kyle. I can't speak for what anyone else's speaks however, so I could be wrong. But from the responses on this thread that seems to be the predominate feature. Not that this isn't bad or anything, that you don't want a reset, I can completely agree where you guys are coming from: it would be wiping out months of work and dedication. But by not resetting the map and server it would basically knock out most of the 1.11 features, as one would have to travel to Ungenerated and unexplored chunks to even find new blocks. Not only this, but the economy is ruined and many of the ores are depleted (depleted within a Suitable range of spawn). If this were creative, my viewpoint would differ greatly and I would be sharply against a reset. But survival is something that can more easily be reset, and requires one greatly. It is impossible to have a decision that everyone is happy with. That just ain't how the world works. Someone is inevitably going to be pissed off with every decision someone makes. the key is just Fijians the one that pisses off the least amount of people. And this would be (from what it looks like), a reset of the survival server.
Most of these questions have been answered in the thread already. For terrain I was thinking something like this: We still don't exactly know how we'd change things around. Some rules may change, but some may stay the same. I think we'll think raiding more thoroughly in the new update. Claim blocks that have been bought you could keep.
@AZZA Oke I have gotten over the fact that there could be be a surival reset. I could give arguments on everything that has been said but im not stupid, It's not going to change minds. I am only this annoyed because I spent a lot of time gaining money recently. I'll just take a screenshot of it i guess... My question now is, how are you planning on fixing this economy? People are saying it is "ruined" but I don't think it has changed ever since it was implemented. And that means it was broken to begin with.
Honestly, I don't think the economy is broken. If you want to see a REALLY broken economy, you would have to look at the old survival with the extremely corrupt job system. I don't think this economy is broken... People just put lots of effort into earning that money, hours on end. The only reason you believe the economy is broken is because certain players (myself included) gained a lot of money. There's nothing wrong with that really... As far as a survival reset, I think it is desperately needed. If there is a world download, I'm sure at least one person will put that map on their private world and you could continue playing there. It's not really that big of a deal. But, that's just my opinion.
That's a great idea! Maybe make them pay some survival money too, since you get a lot of resources by importing your old base/claim?
We can have many opinions about the economy, but I feel like there's some things that could be changed around. As I've told many times before, we could have fewer admin shops to further encourage players to use the player market. That was my original idea. Some other ideas for economy would be to create a kit that gives you money every now and then. Maybe a perk you'd get with Reputation. You could get some money every now and them when you log in and claim the kit. There will for sure be a world download for anyone who wants to keep their works. However, as Dusty said I think reset is almost necessary at this point of time. With all the updates and changes that have happened since the release of the current survival server. There has been several new blocks, new terrain and structures.
Alright, my turn on this. I don't think we should reset the survival map. The builds that people have built on survival are really impressive and we have a small but steady player base on survival. It is true that with a reset always comes a player boost, but to be realistic about this: it is only temporary. After that, we only pissed off our regular survival player base by the reset. I do agree the economy is broken. Instead of trying to fix it, I would suggest a reset and no further admin shops. If you want to earn money, you trade between players or you use the banker kit. I also suggest we start off every player with a bit of money. All in all, I think the benefits realized by a reset are outweighed by the issues it would cause. Because of the general differences in opinion, @AZZA has created a poll to vote on: https://goo.gl/forms/RF8tbDV3QWieqBmg1 Please take a few seconds and fill it out. Thank you!
Wouldn't that mean azza and Leo would have to pay more for the server since an entire subserver is being added to the web?
