    So... how do I put this. Alright, here we go. This server would be nowhere without you guys, the community, and we love you to bits for being here, playing and generally just having fun. It is also because of these reasons that we hold a vote whenever staff apps are elected, so that we can see what the community wants in the case of new mods. We love to see all the reasons why you people support your potential candidates and it is a lot of joy to read the voting reasons to reall see how well this community works and how nice you all are. But here comes the big but: this server is not a democracy. It is a business run by @AZZA and me and while we really respect the community's opinion and use it as a guide in the decision process ultimately we decide on the basis of what the best would be for the server, moving forward.

    In this specific instance, after the votes were closed (and even before) we held long discussions with our staff team. We are proud to say that we went through each and every application, considered all the details, factored in the community vote and in total just really discussed everybody fairly. We actually took around half an hour for each application in the initial round so we could figure out the best candidates, and then discussed a few hours to finally come to the conclusion that you guys and girls see here in three words; Dusty, Gleba and Razer. While I totally understand your concerns that we have't thought this through, trust me, we have, and after careful evaluation we came to these results. It wasn't lets just pick three candidates and then go do something else sort of thing, it actually almost ended in us not being able to find three people (too many good applicants), but we were after more consideration able to narrow it down to these three candidates. We are not releasing the decision process we used to prevent possible upset of the people who were not chosen or to prevent abusing our scheme to get moderator quicker next time. We also understand that you might be worried about former staff being picked; both instances of this were thought through as the reasons for them leaving were in our views justified and we know that they are able to do the job, with both being former admins. Similar reasoning goes to Gleba; while you people may not have seen much of him (or even claim he doesn't talk a lot, he does), we certainly saw the great potential that is present in this candidate and because of his maturity and previous staff experience he also knew what he was committing himself to.

    Anyway these are just my thoughts on the matter :penguin:

    Thanks for the explanation Leo.

    But there is something you guys really need to fix, and that is communication.
    Phoenix is saying its a democracy, now Leo are saying its a business. I don't think you can have both at the same time.

    First of all, never say these things are a business on open forums. I get what you're coming from Leo, but we are not working for you and it doesnt make me more likely to support it in the future. (And thats red flag for a server that doesn't have extreme amounts of players)
    The past is the past we have to leave it like that, if they were former admins then they should already be good canidates and thats not what (at least kyle and me) wanted to convey to you guys.

    It kinda feels like the votes didn't count and were just for show, they were hastely done and I dont think everyone knew they were happening because it was going so fast. So when the word "democracy" It kinda felt like a lie. And now youre kind of saying that it was a lie?
    If you dont want to show votes to us (something that I find to be very weird) then give us good arguments when explaining why Gleba was picked. Not just because he was very mature or something, that may be true but its not something that could tip the favor to his side. I know for a fact that more applicants are mature enough to handle the position.
    Saying that he does talk a lot is just anwsering thing after the fact so they wont help.

    On the other hand, if you want to decide yourselves and are not in the mood to explain why you picked someone, then remove the vote system.

    This is not a post asking for a revote (cause that wont happen I know), he will probably make a great mod no doubt, but this is a request to take a little more time to think about the next time a vote is held.

    Everybody is probably annoyed as hell with my comments or arent even reading them anymore but I really want this server to survive and if there is something to give feedback on I will even if its not wanted.
