[Rant] Penguin Rank, not enough perks?

Shipping to Poland shouldn't be expensive so I'll get one probably. But knowing the polish postal service, it'll come in a week or two.

 

I never agreed with the idea of Penguin anyway. Like Jeremy said, it doesn't fit with the theme, and as much as I love Leo (and his awesome ParkourZone worldedit skills) it just doesn't meld with me.

When I was reading through all the comments I was just thinking to myself "Why did you choose to buy it then?" I realise it has to do with allegiance that we all have to the server, so I appreciate that. £100 is a lot for a rank, but it gives a lot of benefits. I'm divided on whether extra features for Penguin is necessary, because otherwise everything just becomes gimmicky that people rarely use (*cough* Mineplex *cough*).

To be fair though, I would change Penguin rank's colour and name; re-instate purple as admin colour and dispose of the light red; use light green or something in place of Penguin (since Dev's count as Owners), or something like that. -

As regards to voting, I see where you're coming from in terms of /v and the server join messages. But remember that when you vote you get it for a limited time. When you donate, you get it forever. It's like having a subscription where you're bugged to renew it every hour, or a one-time purchase which brings you a load of other perks as well, in addition to all other ranks and all voting bonuses.

It all comes back to this mentality of "I want something new that everyone else doesn't have." I understand that that's why people donate, but perhaps we should see this as just that: a donation. Most people don't donate; they pay for perks. A donation would be a philanthropic gift. I understand that Penguins have supported the server hugely, but does that not provide - in itself - some benefit? Bearing in mind it would be in addition to the perks you are given anyway.

Having a 0s cooldown on commands... I don't know about you, but I don't like spam. People would create absurd nicks that become really long, & you can change it on the Mojang website either way. I don't know about the letter situation, but if it was promised when you bought it, then some sort of arrangement can be met. The very last thing we need is more ranks. I think there are too many as there is (coming from an old-timer who was here when there was only Donator ). £100 is not a cheap price but you do get what you pay for.

Half of me still retains that if you think the upgrade from MVP to Penguin is too much, don't buy it... But I realise that in order to solve something which the community sees as a problem, you need to tell us. You've told us you don't think Penguin is worth it and it's allowed everyone to talk about it, so I stand 100% with you for bringing this up. I'm not trying to dismiss anyone's comments, by the way. I do agree that there should be some sort of change to the rank.
