Everybody sit around because today I will be teaching you how to make a good quality post/thread. *These are just tips and suggestions on how to improve your posts quality and format. 1. Correct Grammar and Typing Grammar is key in creating a rather "professional" post. Typing like a 5-year-old looks very unprofessional and shows that you don't put effort into your posts at all. Example: Good: Hello, my name is Sam. I love to rollerskate at the skate park and eat chili dogs, what about you? There are many wonders of the world, they're incredible! Bad: HI my name iz sam i lve 2 rollersk8 at teh sk8 park and eat chilly dogs wHat about u? their r many wonders of teh world there incredible1 Let me quickly talk about "there, their and they're" and their differences. There: Represents a place or location. This word indicates where something goes or where something is. (ex. NapkinDabber went to the dollar store, and Kashers told Napkin, "Don't go there, Napkin. Go to the 50 cent store across the street) Their: Represents ownership or belonging. (ex. NapkinDabber and Kashers accidentally left their wallets at home when they went out for a bite to eat) They're: They’re is a contraction of 'they are'. (ex. Kashers asked JeremyC and NapkinDabber if they're going to make it to the party) 2. Correct use of colors and typography emphasis (bold, italics, etc) You have to be especially careful with the use of bold, italics and color. If you overuse it, the post looks to colorful (not saying its a bad thing) and just plain unprofessional. I, myself, stick to using black as my main text and only use colors when needed. Example: Good: The point i'm trying to convey is that every single time you try to be funny, you end up embarrassing me. Bad: The point i'm trying to convey is that every single time you try to be funny, you end up embarassing me. 3. Check to make sure your post is original Before you even start the post, make sure you didn't steal the post idea or anything related to it (unless of course you have permission from the original user). Why am i including this? Because some people work extremely hard at doing something, and someone swoops by and makes something related to the post. For example, BCblogs. After the series became a hit, people kept making their own blogs. Which was fine, but they copied the blogs ideas. I approved of anyone doing a blog, as long as it didn't copy BCblogs in any way, shape or form. Creativity means original. Stealing someones work isn't original, nor creative. The reason i'm making this post is because i'm irritated with tons of players who are mid-teen speaking like half their age. I'm not saying everyone is, but some people can. And remember, these are only tips on how to have better quality posts. In no way am i forcing you to post like this, but it is recommended as many people are also irritated when "u type lik dis".
I personally do not seem to like the use of italics, bold text, or coloured text, but I suppose it can be used properly. Quite frankly though, the majority of the players would post like this should there be a reward such as a "quality poster" tag with a significant gain in points on the forums.
Why did we go out to eat? We probably had food at the house. Why did we go to such cheap stores if we had wallets filled with money?
I don't think one has to necessarily be perfect in every way with a simple forum post. It made sense when people had to make staff apps but not 100% of the time, innit blad 420 rite u get me m8 EDIT: I see the wider purpose is to just make regular posts legible, not perfect. I agreeee
